Compassion For Others I have been working my way up to this post ever since 11/5/24. I am seeking to be able to have compassion for anyone and everyone. Don't get me wrong, I have compassion for a lot of people. I struggle at times and for various reasons. I have one particular person in mind and I'm not fully there yet, but still trying. So how do we keep going forward and not give up.
Patience In this project of mine, I have come to notice that an important factor in building compassion for others is patience. I had hoped to write this article demonstrating how I found compassion for someone by 1/20/25. As the date approaches I have noticed an increasing urgency, which is tightening up my heart. When I decided to write a post from the perspective of being in process as I work towards building an inner compassion for another, my heart found ease. So don't put yourself on a deadline, compassion for another is not a task you power through, it is an act requiring patience for yourself and the process. And to find that I am turning back to practices of self-compassion. Self-Compassion Practices If self-compassion has never been modeled for us, we may not know where to start with self-compassion and need detailed step by step instructions to get started. Dr. Kristin Neff offers guided meditations, self-compassion exercises, and tips on her website. I am no expert by far, so I defer to the expert Dr. Kristin Neff, her work offers research, ways to track, and ways to grow self-compassion. In fact, I have been using the what would you tell a friend exercise to help me gain perspective as I work on my compassion for others project.
